Your bathroom is perhaps the most frequently used room in your home, hence more than likely to require being remodeled first. Remodeling your bathroom has many benefits; a fresh look, improved functionality, and so on. But you also need to look at multiple angles of bathroom remodel costs before you go ahead with the process.

Average Bathroom Remodel Costs

In the United States, a bathroom remodel costs anywhere between $10,000 to $25,000. However, it’s not as simple as it looks.

To understand bathroom remodel costs, you also have to understand different aspects that go into it. For instance, the size of the bathroom, the scope of the remodel, etc. Let’s look at some of the factors that affect your bathroom remodel costs.

Size of the Bathroom

There are three types of bathrooms: the master bathroom, full bathroom, and a half bath or a powder room. The cost of your bathroom remodel will depend on the type of bathroom you are remodeling.

For instance, a master bathroom remodel will cost you upwards of $20,000, while a full bath remodel will cost around $15,000, and a powder room remodel will cost you $5,000. While the size of the bathroom plays a big role, so does the scope.

Scope of the Bathroom Remodel

You don’t always have to gut your bathroom to its bare bones, you might also be looking for minor updates and this affects the bathroom remodel costs.

For instance, a partial master bathroom remodel costs from $10,000 to $15,000, and a full-scale remodel can go anywhere between $15,000 and $30,000 based on the fixtures and items that you choose.

Fixtures and Hardware Costs

Your bathroom has various fixtures from bathtubs to sinks and vanities. All of these fixtures contribute significantly to your overall bathroom remodel costs. While their cost might vary from location to location, you can still get an idea of their average costs.

For instance, the average cost of a sink can range between $100 to $5,000. Similarly, you can expect to pay around $500 to $6,000 for a bathtub and $2,000 to $7,000 for a shower/shower enclosure. The cost of these fixtures and their overall impact on your bathroom remodel costs depend on your choice.

How? If you choose a low-end or a stock bathtub, you can expect to pay a small amount, but if you want something more custom/luxurious, you will need to shell out more money. In the end, it comes down to your budget and personal choice of a modern bathroom design.

Labor Charges for Bathroom Remodel

Even though the bathroom is a relatively small space, it requires a lot of technical knowledge if you want to remodel. Hence, you will be relying on professional contractors for most of the work. For this reason alone, labor charges will make up a massive chunk of your total bathroom remodel costs.

How much? You might be surprised to hear that labor constitutes around 20 percent of your total bathroom remodel costs.

Understanding bathroom remodel costs is crucial for any homeowner who wants to remodel their bathroom and add immense value to their home, as well as their day-to-day life.
