Washington, DC is among the 10 best pizza cities in the nation, according to TripAdvisor. And there is a wide range of options out there when you start to think where you can get the perfect slice in town for you and your loved ones. Here are the best pizzerias in Washington, DC, in our opinion.

Pizzeria Paradiso in Dupont Circle:

Address: 2003 P Street Northwest Washington DC

Phone: (202)-223-1245

Monday – Thursday: 4 pm – 9 pm

Friday & Saturday: 1 pm – 10 pm

The Italian pizzeria, founded by Chef Ruth Gresser, has been operating in Dupont Circle since November 1991, when it first opened its doors at another location. Gresser was on the Board of Directors of Women Chefs and Restaurateurs from 2010 to 2017, and was the winner of 2017 Women Who Mean Business awarded by the Washington Business Journal.

It later moved to the current spot that has a small outdoor patio space. There are three other Pizzeria Paradiso restaurants in the area — Georgetown (opened in 2002), Hyattsville, MD (opened in 2017) and Spring Valley (opened in 2018).

Featuring a wood-burning, stone oven at the heart of it, the restaurant provides table service, bar service, private and semi-private dining, as well as carry out and online ordering for pick up. You can also order through third party delivery services.

It offers vegetarian-friendly, vegan, and gluten-free options. Patio service is available on a first come first serve basis.

A wide selection of beers consisting of microbrews and handcrafted beers are part of the menu. Also a “Birreria Paradiso” serves within every Pizzeria Paradiso location, offering Happy Hour prices on select days of the week.

Pi Pizzeria:

Address: 910 F Street Northwest, Washington DC

Phone: (202)-393-5484

Hours: Daily: Noon – 8 pm (Limited hours due to COVID-19)

Priding itself on being the first restaurant to cook in Barack Obama‘s White House, Pi Pizzeria has a special place in the hearts of Washington, DC residents.

In 2018, TripAdvisor named DC the 10th best pizza city and Pi Pizzeria the “top-rated pizzeria” in the District.

According to Thrillist, Pi Pizzeria is among the “legitimately great Chicago-style pizzas outside the Windy City.”

The Northwest location is just one-minute walk from Ford’s Theatre.

With their highly acclaimed thick crust, the chain restaurant has also been selected the best pizza place by the Riverfront Times. “No matter which Pi you visit, its signature pizza with its deep-dish, cornmeal-based crust remains the most delicious in town, stacked high with premium ingredients, the ratio of cheese to vegetables to meat (most of it hormone-free) to the brilliant red tomato sauce that tops it all never failing to showcase each topping at its best,” the local daily wrote in 2012.

Vegetarian-friendly, vegan and gluten-free options are available.

You can order through DoorDash or UberEats, as well. Curbside carryout is another option.
