Construction Crane Tips Over, Injures Worker in Northwest DC

A construction crane fell over the roof of a house in Northwest Washington Wednesday morning, causing a worker to be severely injured.

The incident took place at a construction site on the 1300 block of 11th Street and O Street around 9:15 am, according to the DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Department.

The crane that was attached to a truck crashed into a building under construction and an adjacent townhouse.

One resident and a caretaker, who were present inside the house during the incident, were evacuated and evaluated by DC Fire and EMS for possible injuries, but they did not require further medical attention.

A worker on the rooftop was rescued after sustaining serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

The cause of the accident is not clear at this time.
