Fourth Annual DC Blockchain Summit Scheduled for March 6-7

Leading blockchain companies, enterprise executives and policymakers will come together for the Fourth Annual D.C. Blockchain Summit that will be held at Georgetown University, Washington, D.C., between March 6 and 7.

“Chamber of Digital Commerce members from more than 20 countries will participate in the event and demonstrate how blockchain applications can serve as an engine for economic prosperity through trade finance, food supply chain management, health care, energy, digital identity solutions, tracking of ownership, and many others,” according to the summit brief.

The summit will feature discussions with innovators and technologists from around the world in addition to in-depth conversations with policymakers and regulators on the issues affecting the blockchain landscape.

Among the opening day speakers are John Jacobs, Executive Director, Center for Financial Markets & Policy, Georgetown University; Anoop Nannra, Head of Blockchain, Cisco; Matthew Roszak, Chairman & Co-Founder, Bloq; Perianne Boring, Founder & President, Chamber of Digital Commerce, and Amy Davine Kim, Chief Policy Officer, Chamber of Digital Commerce.

There is a session scheduled for the first day titled “Patrolling the Block: Token Regulation in the United States” which will offer a comprehensive panel discussion with the experts at the heart of balancing interpretations of the law and sound public policy.

Moderated by Amy Davine Kim, the speakers for this session include Daniel Gorfine, Chief Innovation Officer & Director, Lab CFTC, Kavita Jain, Director, Office of Emerging Regulatory Issues, FINRA, Jessica Renier, Senior Advisor, U.S. Dept. of the Treasury, and Valerie Szczepanik, Senior Advisor for Digital Assets & Innovation, SEC.

Anoop Nannra will be speaking on another discussion topic titled “Breaking Barriers to Blockchain Adoption: Getting to ‘Planet Scale’ Trust” on the opening day.

“Future of Tokenization” that will take place on the second day of the summit features Matthew Roszak, Chairman & Co-Founder, Bloq, and Manmeet Singh, Chief Investment Officer, EMURGO.

Jesse Spiro, Global Head of Policy, Chainalysis, will be speaking in another panel discussion titled “Building Trust in Blockchains: Transparency, Regulation, and Institutional Adoption”

Other panel discussions include “Evolution Into the Secondary Market – Development and Changes in Token Sales and Token Trading”, “The State of Decentralization Benchmarks”, and “Update on Federal and State Government Blockchain Initiatives” in which Mark Fisk, Partner, IBM, Digital – Public Service Blockchain Leader, IBM Global Business Services, will talk about federal and state government blockchain initiatives.
