15-Year-Old Boy, Two Others Killed in Multiple Southeast DC shootings

Three individuals, including a 15-year-old, were killed in four shootings that took place in Southeast DC on Thursday, according to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).

A total of six shootings — four of them in Southeast — occurred around the city within less than 10 hours, leading to three deaths.

Among the victims was 15-year-old Dayvon Lewis, of Southeast, DC, who was fatally shot in the 1300 block of Congress Street, Southeast at around 7 pm.

Members of MPD’s Seventh District responding to the address found Lewis inside of a vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound in the 3300 block of 11th Place, Southeast. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived at the scene and pronounced the teen dead.

Holding a press conference in the area of the shooting on Thursday night, Acting DC Police Chief Robert Contee and Commander Andre Wright of the Seventh District announced that all efforts to save the boy’s life failed. “We are urgently asking anyone in the community with any information related to this offense to call us,” Wright said.

Detectives from MPD’s Homicide Branch do not have a suspect yet in their investigation.

Other victims that were fatally shot on Thursday, January 21 include 27-year-old Damareus Scott killed on the 1800 block of Alabama Avenue Southeast and 27-year-old Andrew Session who was killed in the 4400 block of 3rd Street, Southeast.

MPD currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information that would help locate and arrest the perpetrators of any homicide committed in the city. Anonymous information may be submitted by texting 50411.
