All Female Comedy Group Performs in DC for Women Empowerment

“Wallah She’s Funny,” an all female comedy group that performs for charitable purposes centering around women, will be at the Jack Morton Auditorium for a show on November 23.

“These comics represent diversity in expression of faith, ethnicity, professional background, and identity,” the event brief says. “Wallah She’s Funny comedically celebrates contributions of incredible Muslim women in a family-friendly engagement that is timely, relevant, and just plain fun.”

The D.C. show is part of an eight-city national tour in benefit of Penny Appeal USA, a nonprofit working to reduce poverty through sustainable programs.

“Wallah She’s Funny is the latest comedy installment of the illMuslims & Penny Appeal USA’s illarious series,” according to the brief.

The tour addresses a variety of Muslim women’s experiences both within their communities and American society in general. The five women, Zainab Johnson, Hoodo Hersi, Yasmin ElHady, Atheer Yacoub and Sabeen Sadiq, tackle sexism/patriarchy, gender roles, and “life as a Muslim Woman in 2019.”

The venue opens its doors at 6:00 p.m. and the show takes place between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. Ticket prices is $35 and viewers of all ages are welcome.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to Penny Appeal USA for women empowerment programs.
