The first-ever indoor “Bollywood Karma” Holi festival will take place at D.C.’s premier nightclub venue KARMA D.C. on March 23.
The spring festival event is the brainchild of Manan Singh Katohora (JMD Creations), Akhil Modha (AM Productions) and Saumil Parikh (Band Baaja Entertainment). The trio also hosts premiere Bollywood and international events for South Asians and international audiences in the D.C./metro areas of Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C.
Holi festival marks the victory of good over evil and the arrival of spring. The festival is celebrated mainly in India and also in other areas of Asia. It is also observed in the Western world by the diaspora from the Indian subcontinent.
“Amid vibrant bursts of color, a troupe of dhol players — a traditional wooden drum played in South Asia — and people dance around and splash each other with powder colored red, yellow, blue and green. The scene depicts the classic Holi traditions of family and friends coming together to laugh, dance and feast,” notes the event’s press release.
The seven hours of non-stop entertainment includes special performances and a live dholi performance. DJ SVP will also be presenting Bollywood and international music.
INDISH, an exotic Indian restaurant, will be providing food for purchase at the venue.
