Capitol Police Arrest Armed Michigan Woman Outside Headquarters

-

A woman was arrested after she parked her car in the no parking zone in front of the US Capitol Police (USCP) headquarters on Wednesday, January 12.

The woman, who was later identified as Kery Lynn McAttee of Michigan, was in a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado and she was arrested at around 1:40 pm.

According to a statement from the USCP, the 58-year-old woman was in possession of a loaded shotgun, an unloaded rifle, an unloaded muzzleloader, and a pellet gun.

She reportedly told the officers she was coming from Michigan and wanted to share some information about the January 6 Capitol attack. When she was asked about the gun case and the butt of a long gun an officer spotted in her car, she confirmed she had firearms.

Authorities couldn’t find any evidence that she had any intentions other than speaking with USCP officers.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing, while McAttee is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of unregistered ammunition, unlawful possession/transportation of a semi-automatic rifle, unlawful possession of a firearm misdemeanor.
