Welcome Cherry Blossoms with Yoga and Dance at Smithsonian American Art Museum

-

This year’s Cherry Blossom Sunrise is scheduled to take place on Friday, March 27 from 6:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. inside the Kogod Courtyard at the Smithsonian American Art Museum.

The event kicks off at sunrise with an hour-long yoga session led by instructor Charlotte Bowden. It will be followed by a dance party featuring Dude Skywalker.

During the party, free kombucha and breakfast bites will be available, along with soft drinks (sparkling water from Daytrip and non-alcoholic beers from Brooklyn Brewery).

There will also be “special surprises, live performances and moments of mischief.”

“After last year’s epic morning, we’ve just been invited back to the Smithsonian American Art Museum to wake up and dance among a blooming sea of cherry blossoms,” the organizers said in an event brief, adding “Gear up for a flower-filled sunrise adventure in the magic of the Kogod Courtyard.”

The event is also celebrating the museum’s newest exhibition, Alexander von Humboldt and the United States: Art, Nature, and Culture.

Ticket prices range from $18.45 – $35. Participants are asked to bring their own yoga mats and dress in their favorite cherry blossom pinks and floral prints.

The organizers note that they are taking necessary health measures at the event, including a ban on hugs and high-fives, a Compliment Committee at the door and readily available hand sanitizers and disinfectant wipes.
