Dave Chappelle‘s new Netflix comedy series Chappelle’s Home Team will feature DC comedians Earthquake and Donnell Rawlings.
Chappelle, a DC native himself, is an executive producer of the new show, and introduces the comedians in each episode.
Earthquake will appear in the episode titled Earthquake: Legendary, which is the first in the series, and scheduled to premiere on Netflix on February 28.
“Earthquake shakes up the stage with his takes on ‘health is wealth,’ prostate exams and one particularly lengthy celebrity funeral,” according to Netflix.
The online streaming service has not yet announced the release date of Rawlings’ special.
“I’ve been doing this a long time and comedians like Quake and Donnell are not only friends but have inspired my own career,” Chappelle said in a release. “Anyone in the comedy community knows these names and knows their time to shine is long overdue. I am proud to be a part of this moment.”
The comedy series will be directed by Stan Lathan, who is also one of the executive producers, along with Earthquake, Rikki Hughes and Jermaine Smith.
It consists of four comedy specials, each featuring a different comedian selected by Chappelle. All four comics have a career of three decades.
Netflix made the announcement on the project on February 18.
Chappelle’s previous Netflix special, The Closer, which came out last year, had sparked controversy over his jokes about the LGBTQ+ community.
