The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) arrested a 14-year-old girl over the allegation that she and other suspects attacked and robbed people after luring them into meet-ups by using a dating app.
The teen and her friends reportedly carried out armed assaults on their victims and stole their belongings, along with their cars in separate incidents, including one that took place last year, one in late January and one in early February this year.
The DC girl, who has not been identified, was arrested on Tuesday and she is facing multiple charges, according to police. Two counts of armed robbery and one count of assault with a dangerous weapon are among the charges.
The first incident was on Friday, January 24, 2020 after the girl and her victim met in the 4800 block of North Capitol Street, Northeast. The second robbery occurred Tuesday, February 2, 2021 in the 1300 block of Peabody Street, Northwest. And the last one was on Sunday, February 7, 2021 in the 4800 block of Fort Totten Drive, Northeast.
MPD currently offers a reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in violent crimes committed in the District.
