Age-Friendly DC 2023 Strategic Plan to be Released on October 29

-

D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, D.C. Office on Aging, and other community members will be releasing the Age-Friendly 2023 Strategic Plan on October 29 at the historic Avalon Theater.

Themed “Making DC A Great Place to Grow Old,” the 2023 plan envisions how to make the district a comfortable and a great place to grow older. The plan also aims to keep all D.C. residents healthy, happy and engaged in their environment.

World Health Organization last fall recognized D.C. as a top Age-Friendly City. According to “2019-2022 DC State Plan on Aging”, the older adult population (age 60 and older) in the district is 113, 644, which makes up 16.5 percent of the total population. By 2030, as per the state plan, the senior population in the district is expected to grow up to 17.4 percent.

Members of the Age-Friendly DC Task Force will also be present at the red carpet release function. Those participating in the event can also share their thoughts and vision about how they see Age-Friendly DC by 2023.

Movie tickets will be available at an Age-Friendly discount rate of $5. Popcorn and lunch will also be served.
