DC Area Auto Dealers to Assist Federal Employees During Shutdown

-

New car dealers in the greater Washington, D.C. area are offering a special assistance program to all federal government employees whose income is affected because of the current government shutdown, the Washington Area New Automobile Dealers Association (WANADA) has announced on January 18.

“The ongoing federal government shutdown has created a lot of challenges for federal workers and their families. Through this program, WANADA members are happy to do their part in making this difficult time at least a little bit easier,” said John O’Donnell, WANADA president and CEO.

Beyer Auto, Fitzgerald Auto Mall, Alexandria Hyundai and Brown’s Car Stores, which together run over 20 dealerships in the Washington area, will be part of the special assistance program for federal employees.

Currently, federal employees furloughed due to the government shutdown can get their cars serviced and repaired at participating dealers under the Shutdown Assistance Program For Vehicle Owners. The employees are allowed to delay the payment until they resume their work when the shutdown ends.

WANADA represents about 220 new automobile dealers in the greater Washington, D.C. area.
