DC Mayor Muriel Bowser announced this week that 51 residents of the region will be granted prizes and gift cards ranging from $500 to $25,000 for spending at the District’s businesses.
The DC SHOP, EAT, PLAY, STAY giveaway, which totals $250,000, will be open to contestants who are residents of DC, Maryland or Virginia, and are at least 21 years old.
The gift cards will be spent at DC’s restaurants, hotels, retailers, and entertainment venues.
The campaign is organized by the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development in partnership with Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington in an effort to encourage tourism and shopping in the District.
“As we continue to get more residents and workers vaccinated, we are ready for more people to shop, eat, play and stay in DC,” Bowser said in a release. “We know how much the tourism and hospitality industries mean to DC, not only because they create jobs and support local businesses, but also because they help us tell the story of local DC. It’s been a difficult year, but now we look forward to a strong recovery and getting back to the people, places, and activities we love.”
In partnership with @RAMWdc, through the DC SHOP, EAT, PLAY, STAY giveaway, 51 winners will earn prizes and gift cards ranging from $500 to $25,000 to shop, eat, play, and stay at DC restaurants, retailers, entertainment venues, and hotels.

There will be five Grand Prize winners that will receive $25,000 to host a special event — such as a birthday, family reunion, or a graduation celebration — through DC-based venues or businesses.
Another 46 contestants chosen at random will be awarded gift cards ranging from $500 and $10,000 that they can spend at restaurants, hotels, retailers, and venues.
“The District is open for business and we want everyone to safely enjoy all that our city has to offer,” said John Falcicchio, Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development. “We’ve had a tough year, and this giveaway is about having fun, but also supporting the local businesses, entrepreneurs, and workers that make DC a great place to shop, eat, play and stay.”
