Washington International Horse Show (WIHS), one of D.C.’s biggest sporting events, will be held from October 23 to 28 at Capital One Arena.
More than 500 competitors will be participating in the show including present stars and Olympic veterans who will put their horse riding skills on display at the top metropolitan indoor horse show in the country.
WIHS was established in 1958. The six-day show is one of the most prestigious and entertaining equestrian events in North America where more than 26,000 spectators will be in attendance. Charity events are also part of the show.
According to WIHS website, over 500 top horses and riders from across the world will come to D.C. to compete for over half a million dollars prize money. “Highlights include the $135,000 Longines Jumping FEI World Cup™ Washington for the President’s Cup, presented by Events DC (Saturday night), the $25,000 Land Rover Puissance high jump on Military Night (Friday) and Kids’ Day, a free, fun and educational community event (Saturday),” the website details.
WIHS is rated CSI4*-W by Fédération Equestre Internationale, which is the world governing body for horse sports.
