DC Mayor’s Office announced on Thursday that the city has awarded 106 local businesses with $7,500 under its Robust Retail Grants program.

The grants overseen by the Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD) are provided to eligible businesses in all eight wards selected through a blind lottery process from among the applicants.

The program is for businesses with an open, brick and mortar retail location in the District and 25 or fewer full-time or full-time equivalent employees.

“Our local businesses have sacrificed so much during the pandemic, and we are committed to using every resource available to us to help them make it to the other side of this,” Mayor Muriel Bowser said in a press release. “These grants are about supporting the businesses that employ DC residents and make our neighborhoods the vibrant places we love to call home.”

The District has granted over $150 million to local businesses and nonprofits since the COVID-19 pandemic first hit the region in March 2020 via various funding programs such as the Bridge Fund and the DC Small Business Microgrant Program.
