DC Marijuana Justice, a marijuana advocacy group in the nation’s capital, handed out joints to residents who were able to show that they have been vaccinated on Tuesday, April 20 in honor of the unofficial pot holiday.
Members of the group distributed joints near vaccination sites across the District of Columbia under their “Joints for Jabs” campaign both to encourage getting vaccinated against COVID-19 and to celebrate 4/20.
“We are not publishing the locations of the #JointsForJabs giveaway locations because we do not want lines or crowding. #StaySafeDC If you were already vaccinated, we suggest going back to that location!” said DC Marijuana Justice in a tweet.
But volunteers reportedly operated outside the Walmart on H Street, Northwest, the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, the Safeway and CVS on Columbia Rd.
Around 4,200 joints were rolled by the group’s members for Tuesday’s event.

“‘Joints For Jabs’ cannabis giveaway is in direct response to the administration’s ‘Go Big’ effort to get Americans vaccinated against COVID-19,” DC Marijuana Justice said in a statement. “We are quite confident the message behind ‘Joints for Jabs’ is reaching a significant portion of supporters and non-supporters of the president.”
Since 2015, possession of up to two ounces of marijuana has been legal in DC for adults aged 21 and older.
