DC Metro’s Twitter account was hacked and used to make obscene posts Monday morning.
Cyber criminals who took control of the Twitter page tweeted a number of messages, and changed the name of the account to “Blueface Da Bus.”
Hackers also seized the Twitter accounts of Metrorail and Metro Bus Info, and tweeted messages like “beep beep it’s a bus.”

The suspicious tweets started at approximately 3:30 am and continued for around two hours. The posts were later made unavailable by Twitter.
“We are aware that Metro’s Twitter accounts @WMATA @MetrorailInfo were hacked and obscene posts were made that do not represent Metro’s organization or culture,” said the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) after the incident. “The posts will be removed, and our account will be secured. We are working to understand who may be responsible for this breach.”
Law enforcement officers are searching for those responsible for the hacking.
