Metro Transit Police Arrest Suspect in Stabbing at Center Station

-

Metro Transit Police (MTPD) arrested a man on Wednesday in connection with a stabbing that occurred on the Red Line platform at the Metro Center Station two days ago.

MTPD identified the man as 51-year-old Antownne Turner of Northeast DC, adding that he is the only suspect in the incident.

Turner was taken into custody on the 2200 block of I Street NW, according to a press release from the Department.

Turner is accused of injuring two people, an adult female and an adult male, at the station following a verbal altercation.

The woman was reportedly released from the hospital after receiving treatment for a minor laceration. The male victim remained hospitalized in serious but stable condition.

“I commend MTPD detectives for their quick work to identify and locate the suspect in this case,” MTPD Chief Michael Anzallo said in a statement. “Customer safety is a core value at Metro, and quick action by our officers continues to keep Metro safe.”
