The 2019 Multilingual Education Fair for the D.C. region will be held at the Gallaudet University, I. King Jordan Student Academic Center, 800 Florida Ave NE on January 26.
Co-sponsored by D.C. education institutions, the fair brings together 100 exhibitors covering 17 languages to “allow you to explore and deepen your linguistic and cultural skills, and learn about careers where languages are crucial.”
“Resources for young professionals, families and educators include language and culture organizations, embassies, language classes for all ages, apps, books, tutors, assessments, travel abroad programs, university programs, dual language programs, after school programs, day-cares and multilingual recruiters,” according to the event brief.
Included in the day’s program is a Yoga session in Arabic by Kalimah Programs; Madres de la Revolución, a Spanish performance by GALA Theatre, and a fireside chat with Byron L. Williams, an international careers advocate.

There is a concert scheduled in Mandarin by the Washington Yu Ying PCS Choir and a session on “How does Bilingualism Affect Language Development?” by Gabriele Nicolet.
D.C. Language Immersion Project (D.C. Immersion), a non-profit that works to equitably increase opportunity and strengthens communities through multilingual education, is the organizer of the Education Fair. The event is sponsored by Rosetta Stone, Qatar Foundation International and Center for Applied Linguistics.
