DC ‘Poca Madre’ Makes Yelp’s List of Top Places to Treat Yourself

-

Poca Madre, a Washington, D.C. restaurant, has made it to Yelp’s list of ‘Top 100 Places to Treat Yourself’ for 2019 released on April 2, ranking 92nd.

According to the Yelp representative, they looked at the reviews received by three and four dollar sign businesses in the restaurant and food categories in order to rank the top 100 places worth splurging on a meal out.

Both the rating and the volume of the reviews, as well as the overall volume of reviews in each business’s area, was taken into consideration for the ranking “so as not to disadvantage businesses in areas with relatively low review volume.”

Poca Madre, an upscale Mexican restaurant run by Chef Victor Albisu, offers a refined contemporary dining experience in D.C. Located in D.C.’s Chinatown at 777 I (EYE) Street NW, the place is open for dinner seven days a week.

“Poca Madre’s menu takes a refined look at Mexican dining with sumptuous dishes like sweetbreads Veracruz, pato al pastor and sablefish with plantain maduro miso,” according to the restaurant’s website. The 70-seat eatery also has an outdoor lounge for warmer months.

Halls Chophouse (Charleston, South Carolina) topped Yelp’s list, while the second and third spots were respectively occupied by Terra Gaucha Brazilian Steakhouse (Tampa, Florida) and Sushi by Bou (New York, New York).

The rest of the top 10 are as follows:

Flight Restaurant & Wine Bar (Memphis, Tennessee) at No. 4, Wild Sage Bistro (Spokane, Washington) at No. 5, The Rustler (Meridian, Mississippi) at No. 6, Geronimo (Santa Fe, New Mexico) at No. 7, The Capital Grille (Baltimore, Maryland) at No. 8, Sushi Lin (Brooklyn, New York) at No. 9 and Somm’s Kitchen (Paso Robles, California) at No. 10.
