Six Killed, 10 Injured in DC Shootings Over Weekend

Six people died and 10 others were injured in a series of shootings across Washington, D.C. since Friday.

Kajuan Deris, a 27-year-old man, was found with gunshot wounds on 900 block of 3rd Street SW and later declared dead at the hospital.

Another shooting incident took place in the 5100 block of F Street SE on Friday night. Two men were found there with multiple gunshot wounds. One of them, Terrell Butler, 41, later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. Another man was treated for his bullet wounds.

On Saturday, two more men were found with gunshot injuries in the 1600 block of Euclid Street NW. One of them, identified as James Thomas Dunn, 37, a Southeast resident, later died in the hospital. The other victim is being treated by the medics.

On Sunday, Seventh District police officers found a man in the 3100 block of Buena Vista Terrace SE. Identified as 47-year-old Juan Dwayne Jackson of Oxon Hill, Maryland, he had multiple gunshot wounds. Another man, who was wounded in the same shooting incident, was being treated in the hospital.

In the same district, another shooting incident took place in the 1400 block of Howard Road SE. The victim, 28-year-old Ervin Eugene Watkins later died in the hospital.

In the third shooting incident on the same night in the 3400 block of 22nd Street, a man identified as SE William Hayworth, 42, of D.C succumbed to his gunshot wounds in the hospital.

“My father was a hardworking man,” his son, who did not want to be identified, told News4. “I already miss him.”

From Friday to Sunday, at least seven more people were injured in shootings across the district, according to the D.C. police. So far, no arrests have been made in the homicide cases.
