Metrobus Crash in Northeast DC Claims Life of One, Injures Several

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is investigating a fatal head-on crash involving a Metrobus and a car that occurred on Friday morning.

The collision took place around midnight at Benning Road and Minnesota Avenue, Northeast.

The driver of the car died after he was transported to an area hospital with injuries, according to police. Seven passengers on the bus and two in the car reportedly received non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver who was in a Nissan was identified as 24-year-old Marion Dante Fields of Clinton, Maryland.

Roads around the site of the accident were temporarily shut down due to the police investigation and reopened later.

The bus was making a left turn onto Minnesota Avenue, Northeast, and it was hit by a Nissan Altima moving in the opposite direction, MPD’s preliminary investigation has found.
