Starbucks is preparing to make morning rush hour a little easier for residents of the DMV area who like to squeeze in a cup of coffee on their way to work.
The coffee chain is planning to open a drive-through store in Ward 7, at the intersection of Alabama Avenue / Naylor Road and Good Hope Road in Southeast.
The place will be located next to a new Chase Bank. It comes as part of efforts to expand Skyland Town Center.
“We know that residents in every part of D.C. want access to amenities, and so that is what we are bringing to Skyland,” D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser said recently. “We were thrilled to announce last year that Lidl is on the way, and now we are pleased to be able to say that this project is shaping up to be a true town center that will deliver jobs and opportunity to the Ward 7 community.”
The new Starbucks, which will be around 2,500 square feet, is scheduled to open in late 2021, and it will be the first drive-thru café in the nation’s capital. The new Chase Bank that will occupy 3,600 square feet will also open this year.
