Two-week ‘Intersections Festival’ Kicks off February 21 at Atlas Performing Arts Center

-

The tenth edition of the annual performing arts “Intersections Festival” will be held at the Atlas Performing Arts Center for two weeks starting from February 21.

The festival features dancing, including ballet, flamenco, tap, and other styles, in addition to music, theater and family events through March 3.

“INTERSECTIONS is about presenting excellent art that inspires a connected community, engaged artists and audiences alike, and creates a vibrant neighborhood, city, and world. We are interested in unique perspectives and art that connects us to the many facets of our humanity,” notes the event brief.

Matthew Mills, who was named one of the 50 fastest guitarists in the world, is scheduled to perform at the festival. A concert by MOVEIUS Contemporary Ballet (MCB) will also take place on the opening day. Another highlight of the event will be an art installation, The Immersive Quilt, by multidisciplinary artist Linny Giffin.

“I wanted to create work inspired by the craft of quilting in such a way that transforms a space so that people could feel physically immersed in art,” said Giffin.

“Family Fun Days” for kids and family are planned on February 23 and March 2 from 9:00-12:00 PM. There’s also a “Youth Summit” on March 2. An Artspace Activation installation will be presented in partnership with Cultural D.C.

Among the artists and other groups participating in the festival this year are Company E, The In Series, Deviated Theatre, Gin Dance Company, Furia Flamenca Dance Company, Kim B Miller, TolumiDE Music, Shakespeare For The Young, Monumental Theatre Company, Levine School of Music and Semilla Cultural.

You can buy a festival pass here for $75.00 per person.
