DC Had Most Job Openings for IT Workers in One Year: Report

IT professionals found the highest number of job openings in Washington, D.C. since last year, a report released by IT trade association CompTIA has revealed.

D.C. is ranked 11^th among the top 20 tech towns for IT pros to work and live in.

In the past one year, over 170,000 ads were posted for D.C. based IT jobs, which is more than jobs advertised in San Francisco, San Jose, or Seattle. Most of these jobs are for government contractors and most of the IT related jobs were posted by companies like Booz Allen Hamilton, General Dynamics, Accenture, and Deloitte.

Charlotte ranked at number among the top 20 cities for IT-related job opportunities and cost of living in the CompTIA’s 2018 Tech Town Index. Raleigh was ranked number two in the index.

In order to find America’s “Top 20 Tech Towns,” AITP researchers analyzed metropolitan areas with the greatest demand for tech workers. The towns were then ranked “based on cost of living, number of open IT positions, and projected job growth over the next five years.”

“The 2018 Tech Town Index provides insight into the depth and breadth of America’s flourishing tech ecosystem and highlights the characteristics that make each of the nation’s Top 20 Tech Towns unique,” the report states.
