A group of protesters gathered at the Columbia Heights Civic Plaza on Monday night to demonstrate against the shooting of Jacob Blake, a black man, by Wisconsin police officers.
The crowd, which chanted slogans against police violence, later reached almost 200 people, according to DCist.
Protesters later marched towards downtown and arrived at Black Lives Matter Plaza, as they turned into a smaller group.
DC police officers arrested one person during the protest in the 1600 block of I Street, NW, near Black Lives Matter Plaza for allegedly wielding a knife in a dangerous way.
A car crash also took place during the demonstrations. However, it is not clear whether it was linked to the protesters.
29-year-old Blake was reportedly shot seven times in the back by police in Kenosha, Wisconsin on Sunday around 5 pm. He was taken to a hospital in Milwaukee and eventually became paralyzed from the waist down.
The incident was captured on a 20-second video, which shows him walking away from three police officers and trying to get into his SUV. The officers go after Blake with their guns drawn.
