Vice President Elect Kamala Harris visited the DC Holiday Market near Gallery Place with Mayor Muriel Bowser on Saturday to promote small businesses.
Doug Emhoff, the 56-year-old husband of Harris, also accompanied the politician for her Small Business Saturday shopping in the nation’s capital.
“Had a wonderful time getting some Small Business Saturday shopping done with @DouglasEmhoff this morning at the outdoor @downtownholidaymarket,” Harris wrote under an Instagram post on Saturday. “Thank you, @MurielBowser, and everyone who supported small businesses not just in our communities but all over the country today.”

As the daughter of an Indian mother and a Jamaican father, Harris has made history becoming the first woman of color elected as Vice President.
The former San Francisco district attorney is also the first Black woman to serve as California’s attorney general. After she was elected to the Senate in 2016, Harris became only the second Black woman serving as a senator.
