27-Year-Old Man Arrested Over October Murder in Southeast DC

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) announced the arrest of a suspect in relation to a Southeast DC homicide that took place in October.

Eugene Miller, a 41 year-old man of Brandywine, Maryland, was shot to death on October 9, 2020, in the 2400 block of Elvans Road, Southeast.

Members of the Seventh District responded to the location following reports of shots fired at around 11:22 pm that day. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) found Miller who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

On Tuesday, December 29, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force (CARFTF) located and arrested 27 year-old Marvin Smith, of Northeast DC, based on an arrest warrant issued by the DC Superior Court.

Smith has been charged with first-degree murder while armed, MPD said in a press release. He was under supervision with the Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency for DC, at the time of his arrest, according to police.

Smith was previously arrested on various charges including armed robbery, robbery, carrying a pistol without a license, possession of an unregistered firearm, possession of unregistered ammunition, unlawful possession of a firearm, felon in possession, and more.
