DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) said its members rescued a woman with critical injuries from a house fire in Southeast on Wednesday.
The fire broke out in a two-story rowhouse in the 1800 block of A Street, Southeast, near the Stadium-Armory Metro station, at around 4 am and spread to neighboring residences.
Dozens of firefighters with DC Fire and EMS responded to the location immediately and put out the fire in an hour.
A woman, who was critically injured, was rescued from the fire, and transported to a hospital, according to the fire department.

A firefighter was also taken to a hospital with minor injuries, and six people were displaced due to the fire.
The two-alarm fire also caused temporary road closures in the area.
It wasn’t clear what started the fire.
