D.C. ranked seventh on a list of the U.S. cities with the highest-paid employees for the year of 2020, based on a survey conducted around the country.
U.S. News and World Report put together the list, according to data obtained from the Bureau of Labor Statistics on how much people are paid in approximately 200 jobs in metropolitan areas.
The best-paying city in all of the nation is San Francisco, California, (topping in 77 occupations) which is followed by San Jose, California (64); New York, New York (43); Bridgeport, Connecticut (29) and Seattle, Washington (27), making up the top five.
The District of Columbia landed the seventh spot for 22 of the 200 occupations.
2020’s top 10 best-paying jobs, according to the new research, are anesthesiologist (with a median salary of $208,000), surgeon ($208,000), oral and maxillofacial surgeon ($208,000), obstetrician and gynecologist ($208,000), orthodontist ($208,000), psychiatrist ($208,000), physician ($194,500), prosthodontist ($176,540), pediatrician ($170,560) and dentist ($151,850).
Another ranking released by the U.S. News was 2020 Best Jobs. Software developer topped the list with a median salary of $103,620. The rest of the top 10 respectively were dentist, physician assistant, orthodontist nurse practitioner, statistician, physician, speech-language pathologist, oral and maxillofacial surgeon and veterinarian.
