The 2019 Washington, D.C. Auto Show, which is the largest indoor consumer event in the District and one of the five top auto shows in the U.S., will be open for public at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center from April 5 through April 14.
The auto show brings together more than 35 automakers who will be displaying over 600 vehicles.
Around 90 percent of the hotel space for the auto show has been sold out, according to the show President and CEO John O’Donnell.
“The high demand for rooms caught us by surprise. We knew the April dates would draw new visitors to the show. Now, we and our hotel partners are almost completely out of space. We have only a few rooms left in the show’s reservation service, which ensures rooms at some of the best hotels nearest to the Washington Convention Center,” O’Donnell explained in a press release.

Vice President of Operations, Joe Koch, who’s also coordinating with local hotels to secure room blocks for the show’s attendees, said that thousands of people travel into the town for it. He added that they tried their best to provide everyone with a desirable room.
Room reservation requests started coming in before the Christmas holiday this year and haven’t stopped since. Because the dates for the auto show overlap those of the National Cherry Blossom Festival scheduled in the same month, there’s competition for hotel bookings. The room block of the show is only in hotels that are a short distance from the convention center.
