The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) has announced that two teenagers were arrested in relation to armed carjacking and robbery offenses in a number of DC locations.
The suspects arrested by the department’s Criminal Investigations Division allegedly committed two of those crimes on Sunday and seven on Monday. They were charged Monday.
The incidents started on Sunday, October 25, in the 1300 block of Nicholson Street, Northwest, at around 2:15 pm. The suspects, one of them brandishing a handgun, approached the victim and demanded their property. Then they fled the scene with the victim’s property.
It was followed on the same day by a carjacking in the 1200 block of 14th Street, Northwest, at approximately 6:19 pm, when the suspects approached the victim, who was in his vehicle, and asked him to exit his vehicle. They got in the victim’s car after he exited, and fled the scene.
On Monday, October 26, other armed robberies and carjackings took place in the 5200 block of Upton Terrace, Northwest; in the 2700 block of O Street, Northwest; in the 6300 block of Luzon Avenue, Northwest; in the 3500 block of 14th Street, Northwest; in the 3800 block of 12th Street, Northeast; and in the 2700 block of 17th Street, Northeast.
On the same day, 18 year-old Cristian Andy Santay-Rosales, of Northwest DC, and 18 year-old Diego Rigoberto Lopez, of Northeast DC, were arrested and charged with armed carjacking and robbery for their alleged involvement in the above mentioned crimes, according to a statement by MPD.
