The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is seeking a suspect after a diplomat of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was carjacked in Northwest DC Monday night.
The diplomat was held at gunpoint before his Dodge Charger was stolen at 4000 Albermarle Street, Northwest, at approximately 10 pm, according to police.
It is not clear yet if the victim was physically injured during the incident.
Anyone with information on the perpetrator is asked to contact the Command Information Center of MPD at 202-727-9099.
The District and DMV area have seen a spike in carjackings in recent months, a large portion of them involving teenagers.
In late June, seven teenagers, aged from 13-16, were arrested and charged in connection with an armed carjacking that ended in Northeast DC.
Two teen girls caused the death of 66-year-old UberEats driver Mohammad Anwar while attempting to carjack his vehicle and leading to a rollover crash in March.
