D.C. drivers were ranked the third worst in America in terms of driving during rainy and snowy weathers, according to a recent study by the Allstate America’s Best Drivers Report.
D.C. ranked 198 in the category of rain and snow driving on the safest driving city list in 2018.
America’s Best Drivers Report 2018 looks at safest drivers from 200 largest cities in America and their surrounding suburban metropolitan areas. Baltimore and Maryland have the worst drivers, according to the report, while Alexandria, Virginia have the eighth worst drivers in snow and rain.

The report examined the company claims data to find out the probability drivers in America’s 200 largest cities would experience a vehicle collision compared to the national average. The data in the report indicates that an average driver in America is likely to experience one collision every 10 years. Allstate researchers this year analyzed property damage claims which were reported during the period between January 2014 and December 2015.
“The Allstate America’s Best Drivers Report is produced solely to boost the country’s discussion about safe driving and to increase awareness of the importance of being safe and attentive behind the wheel,” the report states.
The full list of 200 Best Drivers rankings excluded a number of cities in the Drivewise data since limited measurable data was available for them, according to the report. California, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Texas were also excluded from the list as their Drivewise data was not available.
