The free video dating app Filter Off is organizing an online speed dating event specific for singles based in the DC area on January 8 from 8 pm – 9 pm EST.
“The Washington, DC video speed dating event is the most effective way for men and women to meet. Whether you are recently single, new in town, or have been single for a while, this event is for you,” the event brief says.
Filter Off is designed based on speed dating events in real life and particularly aims at serving as a tool for helping people with extremely busy schedules meet each other face-to-face. It also promises authentic human communication by eliminating the possibilities of catfishing and exchanging edited selfies.
Every participant gets three video dating sessions, each one lasting 90 seconds, after being matched with other people according to their location, age, height and education preferences.
In order to take part in the event, you need to download and install the Filter Off app on your smartphone, and register through Eventbrite.
Filter Off was launched in February 2020 as “the world’s first video dating app.”
“It isn’t about going through all the mechanisms of swiping and messaging back and forth, but being up-front and seeing if you are a good fit with this other person or not,” said Zach Schleien, founder of Filter Off, said in an interview with Your Story back in April.
Filter Off promises to swiftly block anyone who behaves inappropriately from the app upon a user’s complaint.
