After spending a mild and dry Christmas Day instead of a snowy one, D.C. area residents are now preparing for a New Year’s Eve with temperatures close to 60 degrees.
On the weekend, it is expected to hit around 60 degrees, 56 on Saturday and 58 on Sunday, according to NBC 4 Washington, which attributes the data to Storm Team 4.
Following some dry weather and sunshine, it is likely to rain in the late hours of Sunday, which may last until Monday morning.
New Year’s Eve, Tuesday, will be dry and have a high of 51 degrees that will be followed by a high of 46 degrees on January 1.

D.C. area is not used to enjoying a white Christmas and New Year’s Eve. The region has seen only nine times when there’s been a significant amount of snow on Christmas Day since 1884, the first year D.C. started keeping records.
The last white Christmas in the area — with around seven inches of snow on the ground — was in 2009.
