The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) have identified the woman who died after she was struck by a police cruiser in Southeast DC last week, it was announced on Tuesday.

The decedent has been identified as 62-year-old Devonne Christine Harris, of no fixed address.

On July 24, a member of the Sixth District who was driving a marked police vehicle in the 2800 block of Minnesota Avenue, Southeast, hit Harris at approximately 9:37 pm, according to a preliminary investigation by MPD.

The policeman was reportedly responding to assist another officer and the car’s lights and sirens were activated. She was in the roadway and not in a marked crosswalk, MPD says.
