Young Playwrights’ Theatre Presenting ‘Three Cheers to Grace’ at Dance Loft on 14

-

Young Playwrights’ Theatre (YPT) will be presenting its first, two-week-long production of a full-length student-written play Three Cheers to Grace at Dance Loft on 14 from February 22 through March 3.

Written by young playwright Josie Walyus and directed by Eric Ruffin, the play centers around two friends and an accident that would change them forever. Walyus is an alumna of YPT’s In-School Playwriting Program. She’s currently a sophomore at H-B Woodlawn Secondary Program in Arlington, VA.

“After waking from a coma following a tragic car accident, Eliza becomes devoted to her hospitalized best friend, Grace, who remains comatose. But as time goes by, Eliza must come to terms with Grace’s condition and her own coming of age, while Grace must watch the world move around her, unable to speak, but with so much that needs to be said,” notes the event brief.

The play stars Madelyn Harris, Katie Rey Bogdan, Elenilson Ayala, Suzanne Edgar, Stefanie Garcia, Mimsi Janis, Tre’Mon Mills, Naima Randolph, Sisi Reid, Karen Romero, and Marlon Russ.

Mayor’s Office on Latino Affairs, the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities, and the National Endowment for the Arts support the project in addition to individual supporters.

General admission ticket price is $25 and $15 for seniors, military and students (with ID). Limited tickets are available at the door for each performance. Tickets can also be purchased at the door for at any price you want while the supplies last. You can show up at the venue an hour before showtime.

Tickets can be purchased here.
