AKF Group, a company operating in the fields of engineering, commissioning, technology and design, has opened a new office in Downtown Washington, D.C., strengthening its presence in the region, according to the company’s press release.
AKF has already been serving clients in the area for several years, with offices in Baltimore, Maryland, Richmond and Virginia.
According to AKF’s Managing Partner, Dino DeFeo, PE, the firm’s commitment to its clients was the fundamental driver of the expansion.
“A large number of AKF’s clients operate in the Washington metropolitan area, so opening an office in Downtown D.C. is a natural progression. Many of our clients have encouraged us to expand to D.C., and we are honored by this endorsement. We look forward to continuing to support our clients who have made this move possible,” said DeFeo.
In addition to other projects significant to the D.C. community, AKF is also designing a new mixed-use building for Phase II at The Wharf.
“We are privileged to be a part of PN Hoffman and Madison Marquette’s vision of transforming the Southwest Waterfront,” said DeFeo.
AKF is also working with both the Children’s National Medical Health System and Inova to create state-of-the-art healthcare facilities for delivering world-class patient care and accelerate medical breakthroughs, according to the company’s press release.
AKF’s Washington office will be led by AKF Partner David Moreno, PE. He said that the D.C. location will help enhance AKF’s service to its clients.

These groups include energy and building performance, fire and life safety, technology, architectural code consulting, and commissioning,” said Moreno, adding that they were excited to bring AKF’s team of subject matter experts to the D.C. market on a larger scale.
