DC Ranks 11th in Condé Nast Traveler’s 2018 Best Big Cities List

-

Washington, D.C. has been listed as one of the best big cities in the United States in the recently announced Condé Nast 2018 Readers’ Choice Awards.

D.C. ranks 11th among the big cities, while Chicago has come out on top, followed by New York and New Orleans. In the small cities list, Virginia’s Alexandria ranked among the top five.

“Despite our nation feeling more polarized than an Energizer battery these days, our capital, Washington, D.C., is having something of a moment. It’s done good work of late to shake its reputation as a buttoned-up bore,” the report stated.

The opening of the National Museum of African American History in 2016, and the revival of the Wharf and Navy Yard, was also noted by Conde Nast.

The opening of Eaton Workshop hotel in the city, “where you get a chance at activism instead of pillow mints,” has been mentioned as well.

For the 2018 Readers’ Choice Awards survey, hundreds of thousands of votes were cast by readers of Condé Nast to choose best cities in the U.S.
