The 11th annual Events D.C. Embassy Chef Challenge that offers a unique opportunity to taste authentic food and drinks from embassy chefs representing diverse countries will be held at Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center on April 2.
Presented by TCMA, Events D.C. Embassy Chef Challenge is a month-long celebration of Washington, D.C.’s diplomatic community held every year since 2009.
“The challenge, an event that can only happen in the District, which is home to more than 190 embassies, provides a setting for culinary diplomacy to thrive as a diverse group of highly regarded chefs from around the world prepare an authentic sip and bite from their homeland for attendees to taste,” notes the event brief.

Chefs from embassies of various countries will cook their signature dishes that represent their countries in Africa, The Americas, Asia, the Caribbean, and Europe. Exotic cocktails, wines, beers, and other beverages, providing a taste of each participating country, will also be on offer.
Live performances by musicians, DJs, bands and dancers are also scheduled throughout the evening, as part of showcasing the cultural diversity of different countries.
Participating embassies include the ones representing Bangladesh, Barbados, Belgium, Cameroon, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Ethiopia, Ghana, Iraq, Kenya, Morocco, Nepal, Sri Lanka, among others.
A panel of culinary experts will evaluate the participating chefs for the annual Judge’s Choice Awards. Attendees will be selecting the People’s Choice winner after tasting the food and beverages. Last year, Chef Abigail was declared the winner of the Judge’s Choice award.
