DC Looks for ‘Night Mayor’ to Oversee After-Hours Economy

-

The D.C. government has advertised a new position of a “Night Mayor” in order to improve the nightlife of the district. The official designation for the position is Director of the Office of Nightlife and Culture.

The “Night Mayor” would report to D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser and have the role of advising her and the D.C. Council on issues and matters related to the after-hours economy. The individual will also be responsible for planning and designing the administrative role of the Office of Nightlife and Culture, and providing staff support for the Commission on Nightlife and Culture.

Apart from performing other assigned duties, the “Night Mayor” will also have to come up with an annual report on steps taken and works completed, and propose the future course of action to improve the nightlife and economy of the city.

The position, which has been planned since last year, was proposed by Brandon Todd, Council Member Ward 4. Now, D.C. will join other cities like New York and London, where “Night Mayors” have been appointed earlier.

The position comes with a salary of $97,434 to $118,000. To apply for the position, the suitable candidates can visit https://bit.ly/2zZpJ4P.
