According to data released by the United States Census Bureau on Thursday, five counties with the highest median income are all surrounding Washington, D.C.
The rankings were released based on a five-year study titled “2013-2017 American Community Survey”. More than 40 topics were measured, which included housing, economy, demographics, health insurance and education levels.
The study found that Washington, D.C. area promotes some of the healthiest counties in America. Loudoun County, Fairfax County, Howard County, Falls Church City and Arlington County came out as the top five counties with the wealthiest households as measured by median income in the study.

“It’s our country’s largest source of small area estimates for socio-economic and demographic characteristics. Information from the survey generates data that help determine how more than $675 billion in federal and state funds are distributed each year.”
Between 2013 and 2017, the study also found, the median household income rose by 16.6 percent for all counties included in the analysis. The median income was found to have decreased in 222 counties by 7.1 percent as compared to 2008 to 2012 estimates.US Census: Wealthiest Counties All Surround Washington, DC https://t.co/QWkYoryQWh pic.twitter.com/PbJru31KoQ
