A man was killed near the District’s Logan Circle on Sunday morning after he was hit by an allegedly drunk driver who crashed into a bus stop, according to DC police.
The accident involving a Honda Civic took place in the 1500 block of 14th Street, Northwest at around 3 am on June 13. The car reportedly mounted the ride side of the curb. Then it struck the victim who was standing on a sidewalk at a Metro bus shelter.
DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived at the location and took the victim to a local hospital, where they were pronounced dead following all life-saving efforts.

The driver, later identified as 29-year-old Gerald Lewis of Northwest Washington, was arrested on the same day by the Metropolitan Police Department’s (MPD) Major Crash Investigations Unit.
Lewis was charged with second-degree murder, driving under the influence, and reckless driving, MPD said in a statement.
The Department did not release the identity of the decedent.
The incident was the first traffic fatality since the District’s reopening on June 11.
