DC police arrested a man in connection with a fire that broke out in a multimillion-dollar Georgetown home on Monday.
The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Samuel Kalinski of Northwest DC, allegedly used charcoal barbecue briquettes to set fire to the seven-bedroom house located in the 3200 block of S Street, Northwest.
Members of DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to the location at around 1 pm. Nobody was injured during the fire.

Investigators with the Fire Investigations Unit spotted an individual at the scene when they watched surveillance footage and found the man watching firefighters’ efforts to put out the fire when they returned to the address. Kalinski attempted to flee, however, he was captured immediately.

The two-story house is worth approximately $3.2 million and was vandalized before the fire, according to police.
Kalinski has been charged with arson. He is also accused of vandalizing the house.
