DC’s 2018 Homicide Rate Surpasses 2017 Total Count

Following several shootings across D.C., the number of homicide cases in 2018 has already reached 119, surpassing the 116 homicides count for the entire year of 2017.

On September 24, three people were killed in shootings in different areas of the district. On Monday afternoon, a man was shot and killed on the 2500 block of Bowen Road in the southeast. The incident was followed by the killing of another man at 7:30 p.m. in the 1800 block of Benning Road in the northeast. On the same night, at 10 p.m., another man was killed in yet another homicide on 14th and Downing Place.

Since Friday, six people died and 10 others were injured in a series of shootings across Washington, D.C.

On Tuesday, there was another homicide incident, when a man was shot and killed on Eastern Avenue near Rittenhouse Street close to a gas station.
