President Joe Biden had lunch at Le Diplomate, along with First Lady Jill Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, following a Memorial Day event at Arlington National Cemetery on Monday.
Residents posted videos on social media showing the four entering the highly acclaimed French brasserie in Logan Circle, waving at passersby and greeting people sitting at tables, while being cheered on.

It was the first restaurant appearance of Biden and Harris together and the first time the president has been seen dining out since he took office. Biden is known to have visited Le Diplomate as vice president.

The president previously bought sesame bagels with cream cheese at Georgetown’s self-described “Jew-ish” deli Call Your Mother, even though he waited in the car. He also ordered tacos and quesadillas at Taqueria Las Gemelas near Union Market, when it received the country’s first Restaurant Revitalization Fund grant.
