Newly Released Videos Show Attack on DC Police Officer During Capitol Riot

-

A total of four new videos that captured rioters assaulting DC Police Officer Daniel Hodges inside the Capitol tunnels during the insurrection on January 6 were released earlier this week as per a court order.

The Department of Justice released the footage on Wednesday, June 16, upon the order of US District Judge Trevor McFadden, after WUSA9 and other news outlets went to court, requesting the release.

The video below has graphic content.

In one of the videos, a man identified by officials as Patrick Edward McCaughey of Connecticut, together with other rioters, is seen crushing Officer Hodges, while the group clashes with riot police.

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) member can be heard asking for help while crying in pain in the video. McCaughey shouts “Just go home!” at the police in the videos.

McCaughey faces nine criminal counts for his actions on January 6, including assaulting federal officers with a dangerous weapon.

Mike Fanone was another MPD officer who was attacked as he defended the Capitol complex against a pro-Donald Trump mob on the day of the insurrection. Fanone was beaten by the rioters and was tased multiple times in front of the Capitol building, causing him to have a heart attack.
