The Wharf is ready to host three days of Oktoberfest festivities from Friday, September 30 to October 2.
Guests can enjoy German-inspired fare, Sam Adam Octoberfest beer (if they are 21 and older), along with Bavarian decor and costumes, throughout the weekend at Wharf restaurants including Cantina Bambina, Brighton SW1, Boardwalk Bar & Arcade, Rappahannock Oyster Bar, and Kirwan’s Irish Pub.
Sadly, organizers have canceled the polka dance lessons planned to take place on the pier on the first day of the festival due to inclement weather. However, other events are still happening.
Among the planned activities are a dog competition in the 10th Annual Wiener 500 Dachshund Dash that aims at benefiting Rural Dog Rescue, a group which rescues dogs from shelters and finds them homes in DC, Maryland, and northern VA.
Participants can also attend an official stein hoisting contest and test their strength on Sunday, October 2, between 2 pm and 5 pm.
DJs will be performing and all will be shown on a massive screen during the event.
